For those who have felt the pain of being burned by someone who proclaims their love.
Don’t forget your worth, your strength, and, most of all, you can keep going.
The people around you don’t make you who you are, but you as a person choose what hurts you or not.
Acknowledgments
My Family – I’ll always be thankful toward my husband as he continues to show his support in my writing. No matter how annoying I become, he lets me ramble on and on with the different things I come up with. Even sends me music when I need encouragement. My kids now are a huge part of this as I show them you can follow your dreams and shoot for the moon if you put your mind to it.
My Betas – Thank you all for being the first to read. And in doing so, pushing me to keep going with all the different plots that form in my head. I’m grateful for all you have done with helping and giving me input.
My Knox Publishing Family– I don’t know what I’d do without you all. You’re all so wonderful in your own right. From encouraging me to keep going when I feel like giving up to kicking my ass when it needs it. The best thing I’m grateful for is when you listen to the different plots and scenarios I come up with.
Liz and Courtney – I honestly don’t know what I would do without either of you. Both of you are two of my best friends. Working with you not only as Publisher/Boss/Editor but as a friend means more than you know. You allow me to be me and don’t try to change the way I am. Instead, you put up with my dorkiness.
Diane – I couldn’t be more grateful to you. You have quickly come into my life and wormed your way in. I don’t know what I’d do without you as you make sure my head stays on straight.

Turn To See Me
Turn to See Me
People surround me
Yet they don’t see me
I’m just another face
In a world full of other’s
No one can see me
Nor does anyone want to help me
The world is spinning
Yet no one is turning
Doesn’t anyone care
That I am bleeding
Not just on the outside
But on the inside
I wish there was someone
Someone to turn to
Yet no one turns to face me
I’m invisible to those around
No one sees me
Nor do they see the blood
The staining that covers me
Someone help
Before it’s too late
The world is spinning
And I’m turning
Yet no one cares
Someone please
Turn to see me

Prologue
Rachel
I never expected there would be a day I needed to run to my cousin. I’ve always thought of myself as the tough girl. The one who can handle herself. Yet here I am speeding down the road heading for a town I left behind the day I turned eighteen. A town that held nothing more for me or the two sitting in their car seats in the back seat of my truck. However, it’s where I’m heading.
I hope I’m making the right decision to come home.
Exhausted from being on the road for what seems like days rather than hours. The adrenaline that had flowed through me as I made my escape is starting to waver, and the pain is becoming unbearable. However, right now, my main focus is getting my kids to safety an
d as far as possible from their father.
Which means doing the something I’ve dread just as much— asking the Devil’s Riot MC for help. I didn’t exactly grow up in the club. My lousy excuse of a mother would stick her nose up at the members any time she saw them. Yet my dad had been a member before he died. My uncle is or was a member before I left, and so is my cousin Tracker.
When I’d left five years ago, I swore I was leaving this town behind for good. I didn’t want to become my mother. I wanted to be someone. So, I left on a sports scholarship to ECU and never looked back. I know it’s only one state over, but the freedom of my mother and this town was what I needed.
Too bad my freedom came with a cost. In my second year of college, that’s when I met Lucien. I thought it was love at first sight when I met him at a party my friends from the softball team took me to. At first, I’d been nervous about this party being held at a motorcycle club. Then Lucien walked up to me and smile, at which I fell right into his trap. For months he pursued me. Came to all my home games. After about six months, I gave into him and let him take my virginity. Six months after that, I agreed to move in with him.
Everything seemed magical being with him. Lucien had a way of pulling the rose color glasses over my eyes, that’s for sure. At my graduation, Lucien proposed to me. I couldn’t be any happier, however, I was delusional as they come.
About a month after my graduation, I found out I was pregnant. In my excitement, I rushed over to the clubhouse wanting to share the news with Lucien. I didn’t expect to walk into the main room of the club to find him and one of his brothers screwing some woman together while some of the others watched.
No one even realized I was there at first. To my horror, I was frozen as I watched the man I thought was my everything groan out his pleasure with another woman. When he’d turned away from the woman, he’d just pulled out of, Lucien didn’t even have the nerve to look surprised at being caught. Or even try to explain it away. He simply shrugged, moved to the bar, and grabbed a beer.
Later that night, when I confronted him about it, I learned he’d never been faithful to me. “It’s the way of my world, baby. I suggest you get used to it,” he said. Yet when I asked him what he’d do if the roles were reversed, Lucien hadn’t appreciated it, and hit me for the first time.
That was the first time I tried leaving him. I refused to be with a man who would hit me. I deserved better than that. Lucien didn’t take to kindly to being left and tied me to the bed for a week. I was only allowed up to eat when he brought food and to go to the bathroom. By the end of the week, I promised him I wouldn’t try to leave again. I’d have said anything at that point if it meant being released from my confines.
It took me a little while to tell Lucien I was pregnant. I was scared and didn’t know how he was gonna take the news. I’d been scared out of my mind he was going to beat me. Instead, it was as if Lucien went back to his old self, the one I fell in love with. But this time around I wasn’t blind, I knew it was all fake.
Only after I had the babies did Lucien hit me again. And demanded I do as he said, or he’d take my children from me. That’s when I realized his true intentions. The man didn’t have a soul in his body and didn’t care one lick about me. I had to get out of there, especially after the beating he handed me this morning. All because I asked him if he would run to the store for me to grab some more formula for Corinne and Luca.
Internally I shake myself to stop thinking of all the bad shit I’ve gone through when it comes to the man I was supposed to marry. Turning down the all too familiar dirt road, I can feel the exhaustion creeping up even more, and the pain in my rib cage is excruciating.
Just a little bit further. Please let me get my twins to the safety of my cousin. He’ll protect them in a way I can’t. Or at least I hope so.
Doing my best to focus on the last bit of road, my head begins to feel lighter. And my vision begins to spin. All I need to do is park and go inside. Track can handle the rest. And my babies will be safe. Even if I have to leave them with my cousin and draw Lucien away.
Lifting my foot off the gas pedal, I move to hit the brakes, but my foot slips and presses the gas.
Shit, this isn’t good. Before I can stop, the truck makes an impact.
Just my freakin’ luck.

“You have got to be kidding me,” I snarl as I glance around the table at each of my brothers. We’d been sitting here discussing the normal shit when Tracker announced we needed to hire yet another set of strippers for our high-end strip club Dolly’s Playhouse.
Name might sound like a kid’s playground, but our place is none of the sort. No, we have everything from your typical dancers who do their thing on stage and offer lap dances to the waitresses wearing simple black boy shorts with crop tops. The club gives each of the girls what they are comfortable with handling. The other parts we offer at Dolly’s is the side you have to go through an extensive background check to get into, the brothel of sorts. Though we get a cut of the profits the girls make, they keep the majority of it. Some of the girls are using the profits to send themselves to school while others are taking care of their kids with the money they make.
“Nope, Monica and Tabitha have both quit. They seem to think it was okay to go against our rule of no drugs. Amethyst saw them both shooting up in the bathroom,” Tracker sneers. He may have something against Amethyst, but he knows just as much as I do that the woman is unable to lie. And that for me is saying something. I find all women are full of shit and lie through their teeth.
Take Boss, for instance, she fucking used me to try and get intel instead of fucking working with me like we were supposed to. That’s what an alliance is supposed to be for. Or at least in my eyes, it is. So instead of her and I speaking, we let our VPs handle all communications. Shit, just bringing her name up even in my head pisses me the hell off.
Like I’ve always said, women are good for one thing, and that’s fuckin’ them. How my son Horse lucked out with a woman like Kenny is beyond me. She and Cleo are the only ones I’ve ever allowed into my heart. The rest of them are nice enough to me, but they’re just my brothers’ ol’ ladies and have my respect until they fuck up.
“Isn’t the manager testing these bitches regularly?” Blaze growls. If people think I’m bad, they should get to know him. My brother is far worse with trusting women than I am. You can thank his wife for that one. She screwed him over when she decided to get behind the wheel and drive off the road with his daughter in the backseat hitting a large oak tree, killing them both on impact.
Internally shaking my head, I focus back on Tracker as he responds. “I think we need to look into getting a new manager.”
“Why don’t we just hire Amethyst as the manager? The woman may only be twenty, but damn if she doesn’t keep her eye on everything,” Coyote suggests.
“We’re not putting that stuck-up bitch as manager. She’d likely run our business to the ground rather than take care of what needs to be done. I don’t care if she snitched on the two strippers, but fuck, she’s like the ice princess from hell,” Tracker grumbles.
“Maybe to you, but she’s nothing but nice to me,” Coyote smirks.
“Fuck you, Coyote,” Tracker retorts.
“No, thanks, VP, you’re not my type. I prefer to have soft and sweet, not sour and bristly,” Coyote states with a sly grin.
“Alright, that’s enough,” I say, intervening before Tracker loses his shit. We all know he’s the only one Amethyst doesn’t get along with. Ever since, she refused to give him a lap dance her first day on the job. Which she doesn’t even do now. Lap dances are off-limits when it comes to her, and I didn’t have a problem with it when we hired her. She draws in quite a bit of money for us as one of the main dancers, which brings me to my point of stopping a fight from happening. “If we make her manager, we would be losing out on a good chunk of cash. However, she’d make a damn good manager. We’d have to find someone j
ust as good as her in order to make that happen.”
“Fuck, you can’t be serious,” Tracker growls, clenching his fist in front of him. At my nod, he slams his fist down before lifting it up and running his hands through his hair. “Fine, we’ll find someone to replace the ice princess.”
“Good. Now, is there anything else we need to discuss?” I ask, turning back to my other brothers. I take the silence as their answer and bang the gavel on the table.
Just as we all stand to go into the main room, a boom shakes the clubhouse.
“What the fuck was that?” Blaze asks from behind me as all of us rush out to find out what caused the building to shake.
With my gun in hand, I run into the main room only to stop when I notice several of the clubwhores standing there looking as if nothing was wrong.
